Day 2 Post event Report Below

Day 2 was the main event and with 50 drivers now being reduced to 32 all was to play for. In the first of the top 32 battles Latvian champion Kristaps Bluss lost after a clutch issue. Russian drivers Felix Chitipakhovyan and Max Tvardovskiy also where doing great but small mistakes in their battles ended their day.

In the Top 16 the most notable battle was that of Nigel Colfer Vs Martin Richards, both driving for Team Aerokit. Richards would attack on his run but that was not enough to stop teammate Colfer marching forward to the great 8.

Top Qualifier Dawid Karkosik was on the drive of his life and beat local hero Jacob Hogh Hansen. Janis Elgite would proceed after knocking out top ranked Polish drifter Piotr Wiecek.

Pawel Trela on his Nexen tire Europe team debut would also progress to the great 8 after a battle with another local great Niels Becker. Norwegian champion Ola Jaeger had a below par qualifying session but in his newly built Supra his confidence came with every run and would take the win over Team Budmat’s Polish driver Artek Opiela .

Juha Rintanen would take on another top Scandinavian driver in the form of Joachim Waagaard in his V8 powered RX7. Joachim put up a great fight but it was not enough to match the speed of Rintanen’s 2JZ powered Nissan S14.

The Battle of the day was between Janis Elgite and Johan Halvarsson. Janis nicknamed the “Tandem Assasin” and Halvarsson would go at it with two OMT battles being run to decide the battle.Janis would advance after a slight advantage but incredible driving from both drivers

Final 4
The Final 4 came down to Dawid Karkosik Vs Yanis Elgite. Karkosik just seemed to raise his game in the moment and would push to the very limits gaining a slight advantage which was enough to send him into his first ever Drift Allstars Final

In the other semi final battle it was an all Scandinavian battle between Norwegian Champion Ola Jaeger and Finnish Champion Juha Rintanen. Rintanen was flawless in both battles and a slight mistake from Jaeger was enough to give Rintanen a place in the finals

The final would be a Poland Vs Finland battle. Dawid Karkosik was on the form of his life on Sunday but Rintanen was the more consistent and faster driver over the course of the weekend. Both drivers pushed to the very limit but a mistake from Karkosik was enough to end his day and give Juha Rintanen the win.

Juha “Its great to be on the top of the box again.A win is what we needed after a below par start in Poland. This also gives us the lead in the championship too so a great result for the team as we move onto round 3 in riga where i have won before.”
