Drift Allstars Europe Round 6 : The Finals – Poland

Steve Carzasty takes the win at the Poznan Circuit, Poland

Juha Rintanen takes the 2013 Drift Allstars European Championship

Drift Allstars Europe RD 6 kicked off in Poznan, Poland last weekend. With over 75 cars entering from 12 countries, this was shaping up to be the biggest final in the series since it started. The Poznan circuit in Poland is another classic, with competitive drifting running here since 2005 and many saying it was the birthplace of drifting in Poland.

The high speed layout has everything to test the best polish drivers against the top international drivers.
Yet again, for the 6th event this season, it was the biggest ever crowd that the Polish Drift Federation had ever had at the circuit to follow on from the success of the Plock event in June.

Day 2 Highlights

Qualifying
In Qualifying yet again it was Pawel Trela in his Nexen tire Europe Opel GT who took P1. That took his tally to 3 top qualifying positions out of 6 Drift Allstars events in 2013, showing he knows how to qualify.

One of our other top drivers, Marcin ‘Stevie’ Carzasty from Team STW-Centre, was out to get maximum points and was absolutely killing it with his crazy style. He wwent on to take P2. Team PUZ driver Marcin Mospinek would take P3.

Championship leader Juha Rintanen extended his lead in the series qualifying 5th. It was a day to forget for the other two championship rivals with Eglite finishing in 15th and Dawid Karkosik all the way down in 30th place.

Main Event

For the main event on Sunday, it was the most competitive line-up of drivers that fans had ever seen in Europe, with some major drivers not making the grade for the Top 32. Right from the start of the battles there was going to be some major competition.

Straight away there was big upsets in the Top 32 when Juha Rintanen and Dawid Karkosik were immediately eliminated, blowing the championship chase wide open for Janis Eglite to take the series win.

Eglite only needed to get to the Top 8 to beat Rintanen to the title, but in the Top 16 he would face the man on form, ‘Stevie’ Carzasty, who was on the drive of his life. After a monster battle, ‘Stevie’ defeated Janis and thus handed the 2013 Drift Allstars European title to Finnish driver, Juha Rintanen.
With the title decided it was all or nothing for the remaining drivers, as they fought to see who would win the final European event of 2013. With an on-form Trela, and other major Polish drivers aiming to finish the season on a high, the field was eventually whittled down to just our number 1 and 2 qualifiers, who would then meet in the finals.

After a day of intense driving, a mistake by Trela in the chase run was enough to give Carzasty his second win of the season at the Poznan track.
Bartosz Stolarkski would also win the Polish championship while Carzasty came 2nd overall a great year for the STW Team

Marcin Stevey Carzasty takes the win in victory lane.
