Drift Allstars Europe RD 4 – Latvian Drift GP Results

This weekend saw the return of the Latvian Drift GP at the Bickernicki circuit, located in the heart of the city of Riga. This Classic Latvian circuit is known for generating surprising results and this weekend was no exception.

Qualifying was as close as ever between championship rivals attempting to gain as many points as possible. Piotr Wiecek took P1, closely followed by championship leader James Deane. Local hero Kristaps Bluss in a HGK racing Kumho Tires BMW took P3.

Championship rivals James Deane and Dawid Karkosik had one of the battles of the day. This time Deane was the victor after losing to Karkosik in the Czech Drift GP final.

In the top 16, local hero Janis Eglite took out top Polish driver Piortr Wiecek. Showing that the Latvian driver is back on the pace after retiring from the last two events.

In the great 8, another huge upset occurred, when Estonian young gun Harold Valdma took out Championship leader James Deane.
With all the major championship rivals defeated, for the 4th consecutive event we would have a new winner, demonstrating how competitive the 2014 championship is.

The final came down to two of the top drivers in Eastern Europe. 2013 Polish champion Bartosz Stolarski STW Team/ Achilles Tires and Russia drift series /EEDC leader Kristaps Bluss HGK Motorsport/ Kumho Tires.

Final – This final again showed another great battle of the day. In the second run, Stolarski went off track in his second run, handing Bluss the win, at his home event the Latvian GP.

The points table has seen some major changes, James Deane and Piotr Wiecek now separated by just 37 points. With all the teams going to Estonia this weekend, the title fight is very much alive between Deane, Wiecek and Karkosik.

Round 5 takes place at the Laitse circuit near Tallin, Estonia on August 8th and 9th on this bespoke custom built drift track.
